What is Anime@Large?

Anime@Large is an anime and cosplay club run in Halifax, Nova Scotia with events within the municipality and its surrounding areas. Though Anime is our focus, we also run semi annual gaming events/tournaments, hold group gatherings at movies of interest, have monthly meetings and a yearly picnic. Cosplay is also a large part of what we do, and is welcome at all of our events. There's always something new going on! Learn more...

Due to a scheduling conflict, our Laser Tag Thursday had to be changed to Monday for the month of February..

WHERE: BOSTON PIZZA GRANVILLE MARKET

TIME: 5:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M.

Hal-Con 2012 invites all of our friends, families and fans to come on over to Boston Pizza Granville Market to share in a fun filled evening with Nelson and his Hal-Con friends!!!

We offer great food, amazing costumed friends and unforgettable times!!!! Nelson will be on hand to meet and greet fans and if you ask nicely, he will even take a picture with you!!!!

When you purchase any food or beverage item from the menu on February 19, 2012 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. a percentage of every sale will go towards our fundraiser.

A portion of the proceeds will be added to the total from the Hal-Con 2012 auction which is to be donated to Child’s Play. The remainder will be used to help make Hal-Con a bigger and better event for our fans.

Cabaret Absinthe

Jules Verne Phantastical Society presents Cabaret Absinthe: An absinthe tasting …. a wonderful stage show and dance in a Victorian cabaret style atmosphere. This is an 19+ event (Cash Bar).

COSTUMED/FORMAL EVENT! Dress to the nines! Wear your finest!
Come dressed in Victorian/steampunk/ a time traveller/ or your formal wear (As a formal event the dress code excludes jeans and t-shirts).

The Floor show will begin at 8pm and run to 9:30pm! You will be tantalized and entranced by the hypnotic and mystifying acts!

DJ for the night end dance is our very own DJ BLUDSTON, who will be providing an eclectic blend of period dance/steampunk stuff/ 80s boogie and alot more!

Sunday February 12 will be reserved as a bad weather date. All announcements on cancellation due to weather will be posted by 11 AM. If you don’t get a message/hear from me it’s on.

So it is that time again A winter meet! I know we’ve made some new friends that I would love to meet! This time, at the suggestion of some girls we are going to do a skating meet at the Emera Oval on the Halifax commons!

Since the weather is getting exceptionally colder Lolita is not required. However if you want to do it remember, long johns and tights should help ward off the cold wonderfully! As always significant others, or friends are welcome.

Skates are available to rent with a valid ID, so if you plan to skate and don’t have your own please remember to bring an ID! If you are bringing skates with you, and are taking transit please remember other peoples safety! Use skate guards, or a sturdy bag to protect others from accidentally being cut. There is no mention on the HRM website about skate sharpening, though I will try to find out just in case anyone hasn’t used their skates in awhile.

Afterword we will be heading to Sweet Hereafter Cheesecake for some yummy treats! There are vegan, gluten-free and Lactose free options available, as well as cupcakes.The menu can be found here: http://www.sweethereafter.ca/

Afterword you are all invited to bring swimsuits to my hotel room so we can go swimming/use the hot tub in celebration of my first swim with my mermaid tail!

For those of you who don’t want to skate, there is a viewing/warming area to hang out together. Also the public skate begins at 1, and ends at 3 for re-surfacing. If everyone decides they want to skate for the full two hours you are welcome to come to the oval near the end of the free skate (or after an hour, however long we will skate) to participate in the later activities.

All Suggestions are welcome. I hope to see everyone again!
