What is Anime@Large?

We’ve stopped doing “Photoshoots” because people aren’t really having very much fun anymore. We now do Monthly Cosplay Meetups where we go places in costumes and hang out!

Pictures are always welcome and submissions to the calendar are open all year long. For the last year we have been accepting submissions taken not during our photoshoots. Now that those shoots no longer exist we are depending on you guys to go out into the world and show us your stuff!

The location for our February meet is either going to be swimming or bowling somewhere in the HRM. Updates when more information is available.

Date: February 25
Time: 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Place: Halifax Shopping Center Fair Lanes

We have three lanes, 15 people can play and it’s going to cost each person $4 for an hour. If your group wants to play another hour after that it’ll be four more dollars or if you wanna pay for two hours right away that’s fine to.

The shoe rentals are free because we’re in a group (usually like $7)

If less people play it means it’s more expensive for those of us who do, so if you just wanna come hang out and not play it would be really nice of you to give us $4 anyway.

If more people show up I’ll ask about more lanes but for our group right now it’s basically $20 a lane per hour, five ish people per lane.

(I believe there is an arcade, but it may be horrible/not there anymore)

This month’s theme: Anime Relationships – character groupings that correspond with existing relationships within series, fan-pairings, love triangles, harems/reverse-harems, etc. (theme is suggestive not mandatory)

This month’s theme: Artsy Anime – characters from artistically drawn anime, characters that are artists, characters with elaborate outfits, etc. (theme is suggestive not mandatory)

Place: Alderney Landing (meet in the upper level of the main lobby)

This month’s theme: Ancient/Historical Anime – characters from historically-themed anime, characters who are old in age, characters from old-school anime, etc. (theme is suggestive not mandatory)

Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Place: York Redoubt National Historic Site (meet at the main gate)

This month’s theme: Spooky Anime – scary characters in appearance and/or action, characters dressed up Halloween-style, characters from Halloween themed shows(s)/movie(s), etc. (theme is suggestive not mandatory)

Place: The Old Burying Ground (meet at the monument)

Next Photo Shoot: November 12 @ York Redoubt National Historic Site.

This month’s theme: Informed Anime (School Anime)- intelligent/clever/cunning/sly characters; characters who attend a school of some kind (ninja school, magic school, regular school, Monk training any kind of institution of learning)

this is the only month in which the Theme is Mandatory

Date: September 24th September 25th *due to rain

Place: NSCC Waterfront Campus (meet in the lobby) Dartmouth Common/Scenic Gardens (meet in the parking lot)
