Thrillema and Hal-Con present The Wizard 35mm screening

Thrillema and Hal-Con bring you Wizard on the big screen! 80’s classics at their best, awww, I barely remember this movie but I saw it so many times when I was to young to get it :P

Short synopsis, Kid plays a mean pin ball…. and a lot of other stuff to.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
September 9 ยท 9:30pm – 11:30pm
ParkLane Empire Theatre
Thrillema is screening the 80s classic. Find yourself a nintendo power glove and lets all go to California! Well not actually, but will pretend at Parklane theatre Sept 9th!
Remember the days when you had to blow into your Nintendo to get it to work. Remember how angry that made you, now we just deal with machines that get a magic red circle that just cuts your system and fun off. Well I wish I could still blow into my machine, t…hey dont make machines like they used too, and they sure as hell dont make movies like they used too.
Thrillema is going to be celebrating the good old days by playing one of my favourite childhood films from the 80s THE WIZARD!
The movie that taught you how to get the warp whistle in Super Mario Bros 3, how to mac on a Red Head, and how the Power Glove is so bad.
Expect some Super Mario Bros 3 action to happen before the show.
Tickets $7. are available CASH ONLY
A@L Joins Hal-Con for Halifax’s Natal Day Parade!
If you’d love to cosplay in a Parade, this is your chance! Anime @ Large (us) has been invited to join Hal-Con on their walk through the Natal Day Parade in Halifax.
Here’s all the information you’ll need to join in!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HAL-CON is entered into the 2010 Pepsi/Chronicle-Herald Natal Day PARADE and we want to make it memorable! We have the use of a Parade Vehicle donated from Steele Ford Halifax for those who cannot walk a long way (The Parade Route is just over 3 miles, or about 4 km long), and we will have water on hand. We need as many people in costume as we can get! — any costume style genre age, and no minimum or maximum amount of costume n…eeded – we assume Rain or Shine! Scheduled / Official Start Time is for 10.00 am.

Entries and Participants to “gather in Marshalling area of Duffus Street and Novalea Avenue not before 8.00 am and not after 9.00 am” — We will want to be there for 8.00 am pretty pls!, in order to assemble in our parade lineup Order-Of-Go Spot and dress up the Truck – can anyone bring along green, white, black balloons and string??? These are HAL-CON’s color scheme and would really spruce up our Entry, and make for better pictures! If you can’t make it, please tell others who live close to the Event who may be able to.

As per HRM Parade Event Safety / Liability Regulations — pretty much the usual cover-our-butts kind of stuff — No one can get on or off a Vehicle or Float while in motion. No Candy or other objects to be thrown from floats or vehicles. Items can only be handed out by walkers. No balloons to be released; no water balloons or pistols, etc.

More Info is at: http://www.natalday.org/parade-registration-2010.pdf
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE LOOKING YOUR SCI-FI FANTASY BEST!!!!

Date: Saturday, June 26, 2010
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Sir Sanford Fleming (Dingle) Park - frog pond area
City/Town: Halifax, NS

Hello all! I'd like to send out a call to all costumers and cosplayers in the group! Hal-Con is planning a video shoot for a commercial! We need as many costumed people as possible to make this work. It will be on the last Saturday in June. Anybody interested??

What we're envisioning is having a massive amount of costumed folks (all costumes welcome) walking out of a heavily wooded area -- maybe a little slow motion action will be applied. "The geeks are coming out of the woodworks for Hal-Con" will be caption.

Also - we're going to take some video of very recognizable characters (like Darth Vader, hopefully) frolicking merrily. Then put that to music.

Want to help out behind the camera? We can use your help! We'll be posting a meeting date about a week prior to get some of the information out. :)

If you are under 18 - we will need you to have a parent/guardian sign the release form. We will make this available - please email info@hal-con.com if you need a copy!!!
